Senior Trump Advisor Claims Separation Of Church And State Is 'Nowhere In American Law'

August 1, 2020

Oh the hits just keep on coming these days. The United States just saw its worst GDP report EVER. The Coronavirus continues to ravage the United States in many areas.

As all this is going on, though, we have the upcoming election for the position of president of the United States. I bring this up because one of President Trump's top campaign advisers just said some pretty ignorant stuff.

Jenna Ellis, Trump's adviser, said: “The Left is going to tell you there’s this separation of church and state, and that’s just nowhere in the Constitution, nowhere in American law. That’s nothing that our founding principles ever, uh, derived whatsoever.”

She continued, “As faith-based Christians and pastors and faith leaders, we need to be telling truth about protecting and preserving religious freedom in our country… and especially protecting and preserving the church’s authority in our society.”

This woman is an utter lunatic. She is also a hypocrite of the utmost degree. She has been a very vocal critic (jumping on Trump's bandwagon) of mail-in voting. But guess what? She voted by mail in 2012, 2013, and 2014.

That does not necessarily place her in a good place to be giving moral advice. Also, unsurprisingly, she is AGGRESSIVELY anti-LGBTQ. She supports conversion therapy, you know, that thing that not only has been shown to be ineffective but also super dangerous to the mental health of those subjected to it?

But hey, I could discredit her all day. What about her claim about the separation of church and state? We should focus on that.

The First Amendment both guarantees free belief in religion, while prohibiting the government from promoting one religion over another.

In the Treaty of Tripoli, signed in 1797, Article 11 states: "As the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion,-as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion or tranquility of Musselmen,-and as the said States never have entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mehomitan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries."

Ellis is a propagandist of the worst sort. She is banking on people not being familiar with history, or not wanting to research history. She is making blatantly erroneous claims merely to further her career in the Trump machine.

She is a disgraceful kiss-ass.
