Alabama: Evangelist Preacher Pleads Guilty To More Than Two Dozen Counts Of Sexual Abuse Involving S

A former evangelist preacher in Alabama plead guilty to 28 counts of sexual abuse involving six victims aged 13 to 16.

Paul Acton Bowen, who usually just goes by Acton Bowen, is the founder of Acton Bowen Outreach Ministries. He was arrested back in April, 2018 for "second-degree sodomy, enticing a child to enter a vehicle or house for immoral purposes, and second-degree sex abuse." His victim was a young teenage boy that police would only say was between the age of 12 and 16.

On Monday, Bowen pleaded guilty to all 28 counts of sexual abuse he faced. The 39-year-old former preacher could spend the rest of his life in jail as a result. His lawyer, John Floyd, told reporters, “He’s very remorseful, has been since Day 1. He made the decision to accept responsibility and acknowledge his actions. Deep down, he didn’t want any of the victims to go trial.”

Right... he feels guilty now that he has been caught. His guilt did not stop him from raping several children though. Where was his guilt then?

District Attorney Jody Willoughby said, “There’s been many man hours put into this. However, this is just the next step toward justice and we are very satisfied in this morning’s phase, and the victims are as well.”

“Obviously any case involving a child is difficult,” Willoughby added. “We had people working around the clock and in other jurisdictions attempting to assist in any way that they could.”

Etowah County Judge Debra Jones has set December 20th for Bowen's sentencing, based on his guilty plea.

But the story will not be ending there. Bowen is actually set to stand trial on April 20, 2020 in Jefferson County for even more sexual assault charges involving children.

Remember when I said he was arrested in 2018 for an assault involving a boy between the age of 12 and 16? That was not connected to the charges he just pleaded guilty to; that is the trial in April.

After Hoover Police arrested Bowen in April, 2018, the Etowah County Sheriff's Office identified the six victims that he just pleaded guilty to abusing on Monday.

This dangerous maniac, who hid behind the mask of a "man of God" will, thankfully, likely be spending the rest of his life behind bars. I only hope his victims can move on with their lives and take some small measure of comfort knowing he will not be able to abuse anyone else.
