New Film Details How Trump's Election Win Was Due To Act Of God

A new movie, called "The Trump Prophecy," details a man's delusional idea that the election of Donald Trump as president was an act of God.

Mark Taylor, a former firefighter in Orlando, Florida was forced to retire after suffering from PTSD. According to Taylor, in April 2011, he was channel surfing when an interview with Donald Trump came on TV. It was then that Taylor claims he heard God say, "You are hearing the voice of the next president."

God of course took a little while. After another five years and a divisive campaign, Trump finally won the presidency. Taylor wrote a book, "The Trump Prophecies: The Astonishing True Story of the Man Who Saw Tomorrow … and What He Says Is Coming Next." The new film is based on that book.

I have written a few times about the Christian Right and their fondness for Donald Trump (here, here, and here, for example). There has been no shortage of Christian nuts claiming that his victory was due to God's intervention.

Franklin Graham himself said that those who were surprised by Donald Trump's victory in the 2016 election did not "understand the God-factor."

About 1,200 cinemas screened the film on Tuesday and Thursday this week. There may be repeat showings if there is enough demand.

Taylor has made some additional predictions thanks to God whispering in his ear. He says that Trump will serve another term, and that the upcoming mid-terms will result in a "red-tsunami" that will reinforce GOP control of Congress.

Taylor's additional predictions remain to be verified. Christians have a terrible track record predicting the end of the world, but maybe Taylor will get lucky. Although, who knows, if Trump does serve a second term, maybe he really will trigger an apocalypse?
