A 32-year-old man in Mount Vernon, Washington murdered and beheaded his girlfriend last week.
Timothy Hernandez is currently in jail awaiting his arraignment later this week. He is being charged with first-degree murder in the death of his girlfriend, 27-year-old Vanessa Con.
Hernandez murdered Con on the morning of August 26th, Sunday, while his parents were at church. When Hernandez's parents returned from church, they discovered Con's body, with her head resting on her back. Hernandez's parents then called the police.
Hernandez and Con had a three-year-old daughter together. According to reports, after Hernandez killed Con, Hernandez told their daughter it was time to "say goodbye to Mommy."
After the killing, Hernandez then took their daughter to a local mall. It was at the mall where he was apprehended by police. Hernandez quoted two Bible verses to the police who arrested him which both related to women not following God's word (the reports fail to specify exactly which verses).
Hernandez told police that God "told him to strike down his girlfriend ... because she did not repent." According to court documents he also allegedly said that he "gave Vanessa a chance to repent, but she did not."
Hernandez insisted that he is "not crazy" because "a crazy person would not tell the truth." Right. Glad we got that straightened out. He also said, "God works in mysterious ways" and that he "has to believe and not question God's will."
Hernandez clearly has deep-seated issues. Thankfully he was apprehended before he was able to harm anyone else. I hope that his daughter is able to get the help that she will clearly need after her father's horrible crime.
