A shocking tragedy has rocked the people of Mexico City, MX: a priest was stabbed to death.
Rev. Ruben Alcantara Diaz was murdered by an assailant who alleged assault in some form while he carried out the crime, according to Mexican media. Details are still being withheld by law enforcement.
Since December, 2012, there have been 22 priests killed in Mexico according to the Catholic Multimedia Center. The rate of violence against priests has been of growing concern. There seems to be a violent backlash against the corrupt establishment.
While I am always vocally opposed to religion, the brutal murder of this man is appalling. Whatever the cause of this surge in the killing of priests, this kind of violence is barbaric.
While I hope that this is the last of these senseless killings, it remains to be seen what is really motivating this surge of violence.
