Pope Francis Denounced Gender Reassignment Technology

October 11, 2017

Pope Francis, everyone’s favorite progressive pope (except he’s not really) just denounced technologies that are making it easier for people to change their genders.

On Thursday Pope Francis was speaking to the Pontifical Academy for Life when he decried what he called the “utopia of the neutral” because of the threat he believes it poses to the creation of new life. The Pontifical Academy for Life is the name of the Vatican’s bioethics advisory board.

Francis condemned gender theory and said that advances in biomedical technology “risk dismantling the source of energy that fuels the alliance between men and women and renders them fertile.”

He went on to disparage the current regard given towards individual choice in gender with current medical technology. "Rather than contrast negative interpretations of sexual differences ... they want to cancel these differences out altogether, proposing techniques and practices that render them irrelevant for human development and relations," he said.

This actually is not all that surprising if you are familiar with Pope Francis’ past comments regarding gender theory and transgendered individuals. He once compared the existence of transgendered people to nuclear weapons. Yes, he likened the destructive power of nuclear weapons to the mere existence of transgendered people. Seriously?!

But this is the progressive pope, right? The pope everyone loves! Please…

For the record, the United States has about 326 million people and studies have shown that there may be about 1 million transgendered adults in the U.S. That is about 0.3% of the total U.S. population. If we extrapolate that to the entire 7.6 billion people living on the planet, I think it is safe to say that we are absolutely in no danger of running out of men and women who are willing to make babies together. And, honestly, we could use a little slowing down in the procreation rate. But that is not going to happen anyway, so it is a moot point.

It needs to be said: the Catholic Church still maintains, even now in the year 2017, dangerously backwards positions about sex. From their genocidally stupid position on condoms in Africa, to their adamant position on sex being dirty and only for procreation, it is monstrously unnatural and unhealthy. This kind of teaching does real damage to people. It causes real suffering. This is one of the many reasons why the Vatican and all those involved should be subjected to ruthless criticism and held accountable for the dangerous doctrines they espouse.
